10. Calculations Made By BibleQuick
We are making our best effort to provide you with accurate results for various calculations and conversions you can perform with BibleQuick. However, there are a few considerations to keep in mind:
- Historical Accuracy: The weight of a unit varied over time in history. For example, early Roman Denarii were heavier (about 4.5 grams), and later ones were lighter (around 3 grams or less). For our calculations, we assume that the weight of the Denarius is 1/10 of a troy ounce of silver.
- Numismatic Value: For ancient coins like the Denarius, the numismatic value (collector's value) can be significantly higher than the value of the metal content. This value depends on factors such as rarity, historical significance, condition, and demand.
- Market Fluctuations: The price of silver fluctuates regularly, so the calculated value is subject to change with market conditions. We are using the price as of December 25, 2023, for gold and silver as the basis for our calculations. We plan to keep the prices of gold and silver updated, so we can adjust this price dynamically as market conditions change.
- Purity of Precious Metals: The purity of the gold and silver in a Talent, Denarius, or Drachmae can also affect its value. Ancient Denarii were not pure silver, which could impact the calculation if you're considering exact historical accuracy.
